Went down to Iowa City with Steve today for the Thursday night group ride that leaves from green square park. About 20 guys showed up, apparently a bit lower than usual. First ten miles were pretty easy, EN to TM pace. Then the fun stuff began and we managed to organize a rotation that took the pace up considerably. We turned around in Sutliff after Rick Hopson thought it would be appropriate to give a little "Paris-Roubaix" flavor to the party. This route took us through a really mushy dirt path, then proceeded to go over the Sutliff bridge which was kind of riding over a piano except this piano was really really out of tune. After a little rest the hard stuff started coming again, the group EXPLODED. not really. We stayed together until about 10 miles out when the group split into two after a couple people had dropped. I couldn't stay with the first and rode with the second for a while. After a couple more people had fallen off of both groups, I eventually lost the wheel I was on and ended up cruising into town with Rick. Pretty happy with the ride because it was super painful.
Couple shout outs.
Carson Christen, for ordering my hood cap thingy.
Steve Delong, for driving up with me to Iowa City
Jeff Barnes, for pulling me back up to the group once on the ride.
Bill (I actually don't know his name), for selling me dinner at the Co-op. It was a great way to refresh after the ride.
Tiger, my cat, for being cute and fluffy and not jumping on my face tonight like she did last night. "Right Tiger?"
"Meow"
