State crit recap

Pella criterium was one of the best. First race (junior 15-18) was super boring (as expected) and came down to a bunch sprint with 5 of us at the end. I took second behind Nick Campbell, and took a sock prime. Good warm up race. Thanks to Donny Quixote for lending me his stem of his beautiful litespeed, after I discovered two cracks in mine during warm up.

Thats not supposed to happen

Juniors Podium

Alaina and I

Next race was the real deal. I got in a group of 8-9 that worked together pretty well, and stuck it to the finish. I tried to attack a little as guided by Paul, but it was hard. Finished 8th partly because of a not so smart move on the last lap, but mostly because I was dead.
Some o da action

god is not great

A book my mom won't let me buy.

After seeing the title I had high hopes for this book, but after reading the reviews not so much anymore. I wish I could actually read it though...

Getting base miles in early

Thats right, RAGBRAI.

The pictures my uncle is sending haven't come in yet, so here is a shorter version for now.

Sunday: Rode a decent pace with Alaina (the next Nicole Cooke), got in early. Weird showers.

Monday: Hammered whole century with Brad, Rob, and Mike.

Tuesday: Rode easy, discovered Pastafari thanks to Alaina :D.

Wednesday: EN pace, nothing exciting but the usual ragbrai fun. Discovered The Nadas.

Thursday: Hammered the whole way. Didn't get passed by anyone, except on the stop at Pastafari.

Friday: Very sore, met up with Marybeth later in the day. Got a tour of the Bad Monkey's bus.

Saturday: Still sore, glad it's over. The only day that had hills, which was really depressing.

Pictures to follow hopefully.

yeah i'm alive. thanks carson

Went with the usual routine this Thursday. After work I packed up my bike stuff, and drove to fuel (MV's best CS). "Fueled" by a latte and a cookie, I drove to Iowa City to take care of some business at Geoff's then attended the group ride. Legs didn't hurt too much but my lungs were screaming the whole time. Here are the stats

Time: 1hr 47minutes
Average heart rate: 170
Average speed 20.8 (includes about 20 stops in town)
Max speed: 40.9
Max heart rate: 201
In/Above threshold: 43:26
Calories burned: 1416
Distance: 37.4 miles
Humidity: 75%
Temperature: 86 degrees

I'm not trying to play the pity game even though thats what it sounds like. It was a great workout and I feel decent for the state road race which I'm looking forward to.
